“Justice without power is incompetence.
Power without justice is also incompetence."

-Pepperae, Warden Captain of Cathal.

Territory: EU
Guild Size: 40-45
Peak RP hours: 19:30 - 01:00 CET

“A citation for new recruits?
Just put in anything, really.”

-Sprout Blueblossom, Ex-Warden

TLDR; The NRH is a Warden Guild with a focus on story driven, dynamic role-play within the Sylvari setting. A friendly guild with a welcoming O.o.C. community.

The first Wardens of the NRH were initially sent to The Reach as an compact investigation force. After setting down in a shady building in one of Divinity’s winding streets, they actively began to work against the veiled Sylvan threats that were reported within the city, ensuring the trouble breeding there would never be a threat to the Grove.. Or any siblings that ventured the Human capital, as Sylvari Saplings and the naive were falling foul of more than just speculated Nightmare presence in The Reach.
The Wardens grew in number, and as they did, so did they grow in notoriety. It was quickly recognized that an undercover movement would be impossible to maintain, and they were merely dealing with the symptoms, but not the cause.

After a series of unfortunate and events, most of which were swept under the metaphorical carpet, the Right Hand had relocate... with haste. During the months after the relocation, the Right Hand thrived in their new base, having created a safe haven for Saplings and a cultural enclave for Sylvari just outside the high walls of Divinity's Reach. They faced both good times and hardships over the fourteen months in Queensdale.

After their old Prime Warden Niuralos fell to Nightmare and followed-up by the charismatic Suiriane, their focus seemed to shift. The Warden recruits kept somehow finding their way to the Right Hand, and soon a small but tightly knit force was formed. After another series of incidents, their presence in the Glade, as they called their home, quickly became a political time bomb. The Right Hand was recalled. Suiriane then found herself realizing that she had taken up a task that was not hers to take. She left to live out her Wyld Hunt, and formally passed leadership onto Pepperae. To make the Wardens her own, she reformed the Warden structure - relinquishing the title of Prime, and instead taking up the rank of traditional moniker of Warden Captain. pepper_portrait.png

Rather than see their tightly knit unit fall apart and its Wardens absorbed by other Warden-stations, the Right Hand in its entirety was relocated to a new haven: the Town of Cathal. Mid-West in Caledon Forest, this town lies next to a busy trade route that the Lion Guard set up to connects both the Grove and Rata Sum to Lion's Arch. This is also one of the underlying reasons the Right Hand was chosen for this particular town - they bore the ample experience dealing with other races and customs.

The Wardens are not those of the Grove. Many have lived in Kryta, the Shiverpeaks or even more remote locations for a considerable time, and thus usually have a slightly different perspective and attitude. There is a chain of command, but it had to be adapted to fit – firmer when steering is needed, but flexible where possible. The hierarchy connects but does not restrain and chafe the vastly different personalities that make up the Right Hand. There are also those that are in training, with the intention of becoming Full Wardens and there are a select few non-Sylvari Liaisons that overcame racial differences to prove themselves valuable advisers and allies.

However, Cathal remains their supply-station and prime choice to take the occasional breather. Located in the middle of Caledon, it is reachable via the Town of Cathal Waypoint. Upon arrival, one of the two Warden Guards that are located at each gate will ask you to relinquish your weapons for the safety of the town. After several visits, this will no longer be necessary. We are primarily a Sylvari guild. We are looking for more Wardens and Support-Staff of course. (Almost) any Sylvari is welcome, regardless of background and skill-level, provided that:
You respect IC Lore. The Guild Wars universe is diverse and colorful enough as it is.
You retain a well-rounded character. With a personality, ambitions, flaws and weaknesses.
You ask for permission or agreement in whispers before actively engaging other players in conflict, arrests, etc.

Fun and diversity. With such a diverse core of players we always seem to run into some form of trouble… We've been established since October 2013 and have grown considerably in that time through several key developments, saw promotions, and the sadness of deaths among us. We try to cover most spectra of roleplay and we are not biased to our Wardens either. We try to help all our members with character development, and encourage guildies to submit plot-arcs to follow.

However, be aware that the NRH is essentially a Warden Guild, and thus most of the Guild Events will be centered around this. We will include non-Wardens and Liaisons whenever we can. The Wardens of the Right Hand have the occasional joint-venture with the brilliant Archedyne MetaTechnics Krewe (check them out!).

Fill out the form here. And we will contact you OOC to see how we can RP you into the guild. Soundless are also welcome to apply, Cathal is pretty close. Courtiers need not apply, but feel free to contact us if you want to set up some RP. Other races can try to apply- if your reasoning for tagging along Wardens is sound, then who are we to refuse? But we will evaluate these cases, case-by-case. Post mega-server, we feel that we can not exclude people based on race that already Roleplays with us in Caledon.
We only accept applications of people aged 18+.

Good bunch, them. Fun too... though I didn't had the pleasure RPing much with them yet. The little I did, I enjoyed.

An otherwise calm evening was interrupted by the persistently urgent squeaking of Gleamsnout, the Skritt pea-brained cargo hauler whose services the Sylvari adopted two months ago. The ratling bore with him a message of importance! Nothing short of a summons by the local Thrice-Blessed skritt Hierophant; Tunnel Lord, Protector of the Realm, Hoarder of Shiniest of Shinies, et-cetera, et-cetera. A most dire situation had presented itself after the Sylvari last passed their subterranean realm.

Tree-kin Captain Pepperae and ‘Earling’ Qodixx thought it best to answer these summons to Skritt court, and promptly steered their able-bodied Wardens and Earling-krewe after Gleamsnout, trading the scorching heat of the Silver Wastes for the cold darkness of the vast underground chasms that lay beneath.

A winding path through the deepest of darkness finally lead the dozen visitors towards Drydock Scratch and the frightfully unstable SS Topsy-Turvy, the upturned vessel which bristled with Skritt activity and proved the seat of local Skritt authority. It was within its wooden throne room, surrounded by hushed squeaks and chitters, that the Wardens and Earlings were welcomed by the regal and highly intelligent trice-blessed Hierophant in person. The burdened snout-of-state explained how a new menace had ventured into his realm: a shadowy beast that stalked the deepest of shadows, and had taken a dozen of brave Skritt Hurtmakers. And even worse, the Sacret Shiny they were tasked with escorting!
The Hierophant further explained that losing the holy object spelled certain doom for his people, and that if the Skritt clan were to break, so would the underground passages and tunnels it maintained for The Pact.

And so the dozen of Tree-kin and Earlings ventured into the deep depths, hunting for that which lurked within its heart. Underway many curious samples were taken, while wild theories were spun about the nature of the beast – ranging from an ancient Skritt curse, to a ghostly Shade or even naming naturally occurring phenomena as the cause of trouble. Yet all we proved incorrect in the end.

By chance they stumbled upon surviving Hurtmaker Chiko, who reluctantly lead them to the heart of the caves. There, hidden behind a pile of bodily remains and debris, something stirred! Determined to kill their foe, it proved to be none other than the tame Moa they were set out to search weeks ago – severely weakened and in a clearly distressed state. While Taarez and Bapp secured the poor avian, the true threat made its entrance and managed to catch the Wardens off-guard. If not for the Asura and their scanning equipment, it would have been a dire situation indeed.

Descending from the darkness, borne aloft clouds of manipulated shadow, the Modrem monstrosity of tentacle and darkness attacked all within reach. Blades and spears passed through its shadow-obfuscated form without trace of blood, and fired shots seemed to pierce right through without lasting damage. Even brave sacrifices by Warden Castanea and Éadan only slowed the creature down, as did the incendiary charges by demolition specialist Fha do little but fuel the creature’s hatred. In the end it took the combined effort of Pepperae and Cathrellan to secure it, while Baltar and Qodixx scanned its bio-frequency. A lobbed cryo-grenade by Fha and the frequency-attuned shot from Qodixx’s experimental rifle finally turned the creature to a collection of frozen chitin and tentacle-chunks.

Dori and the Junior Wardens quickly took care of the injured Sylvari, while the Earlings took samples before mading sure the Mordrem was ground to small bits and pieces. Meanwhile, Taarez and Baltar discovered the recovered Moa was stacked with the rest of the Mordrem’s hoard – among which the Sacred Shiny which was part of their quest. How convenient! Back aboard the SS Topsy-Turvy, the Trice-Blessed Skritt Hierophant and his people were ecstatic! Those of the Asura and Wardens able to stand were celebrated as heroes, and granted a boon from the Skritt Hoard once they returned with their mended comrades. While the Earlings forfeited their claim, instead proposing a long-lasting contract with the Skritt of the Silver Wastes.
