((OOC Information: I probably should have added this initially as well but all in the spirit of expediency it waited until now. This is an ongoing plot that takes place on the forums and in game. I hope to focus most developments in game and use this thread as a platform to keep the narrative focused, share information, and just have fun. My in game appearances will be most weekdays from 10a-4p EST [loosely], some weekday evenings after 9p EST, and a lot on every other weekend [i'll be planning another big thing for this weekend coming up on the 21st]. ))

Articles of some interest:

33rd day of the Zephyr 1327 AE, A young boy was found underneath a book cart. An apple tainted with a particular poison of biological orgin was found a short distance from his corpse. He was identified as local who helped a book vendor who had since gone missing as well; Phillip Mellone. It was previously thought that Phillip was involved in the boy's untimely death.

21st day of the Zephyr 1328 AE
Bodies of a pair of red-headed twins only recently identified as some street riff-raffs were discovered. The decomposing brothers were found tied together and their faces destroyed. Most unsettling of all, after careful analysis of the cadavers, the prime weapon suspected to have been used were teeth. Bite marks were found to have taken chunks out of their flesh. Poison of the same nature found to have tainted a young child's apple last year was detected on their lips.

MISSING:
3123396.jpg
Eyes: Dark Blue
Hair: Blue
Skin: Tan (Ascalonian/Elonian mix)
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 140 lbs.
Last Seen: Central Plaza, 50th day of the Zephyr 1328 AE

Authorities are reluctant to say there is any connection to the homicide and the recently missing person or the missing merchant whose search for has been underway since early last year: Phillip Mellone, a peddler of books. Strangely, the documents surrounding this case have gone missing. Last known whereabouts according to recollection were at his book kiosk outside of The Sun.

Also the authorities would like to remind our citizens that desecrating our great city with graffiti will gain you a visit to our infamous jail cells. Keep the Queen's Peace prevailing as well as her walls clean.

The Reach has had its fair share of ghastly tales but none would have prepared them for the sight that would inevitably be seen by unblinking eyes. They would seek out the source for the lurid smells that frothed its miasma, spilling its decay out onto the streets. The double doors to the impressive mansion in Rurikton would sway open with a pained creek for the doors had been closed for weeks. It was a strange occurrence for even this secretive house, to be so closed off to the rest of the world for such a stretch of time.

The unfortunate witness. The scattered limbs. A shriek that beckons much more paperwork for the cities authorities. Human bite marks, again the main source.

On the seventy-first day of the Zephyr, House Lavant has been found brutally murdered. May Lord Christoff and Lady Gwen Lavant and their two precious children rest within Dwayna's wings.

73rd day of the Zephyr, 1328 AE
Jarvis, no last name, was reported to have made his way from the exterior boundary of the Ossan District until he reached The Sun where he immediately died from his grievous wounds. Reports state he had several missing fingers, missing eye, and tongue. These were lost due to his sustained injuries. Witnesses claim that they looked bitten off, as did his throat that was torn through, exposing muscle and windpipes. The determination of death was determined to be blood loss.
3148658.jpg

The one suspected to have seen the attack take place was one, Enziah Bashi, who also has fallen this day by a hidden assailant. Necromatic magic was used to asphyxiate the boy. It is theorized that his death was a means to silence any confession. Before the attack, the boy had scribbled an image with chalk onto the sidewalk. Also a message was found later that read "Beware the Ghoul of The Reach". Enziah was thirteen years old, survived by loving parents Enzi and Dahlia Bashi of the Ossan District. We send them our prayers in this trying time of despair.

R O S E D E N - H O U S E

Several missing fingers, a missing eye and tongue. Clutched between the possession of her extremities, the noblewoman lowered the daily newspaper from concealing her facial characteristics. A rather expressionless guise manifested upon her face, as she set the tabloid upon the breakfast table beside her morning cup of green tea. Lady Valen leaned her back against the frame of the painted chair, relaxing her right hand atop her knee, her left fumbled with her case of twelve cigarettes. She merely looked upon the written words, no sympathy aroused from reading the article, aside from the mentioning of a thirteen-year-old boy, which struck an unsettled feeling among the woman. The occurrence reminded her of the vivid and caustic actions of her younger years, of which she often tried to neglect from memory. Having such knowledge had a habit of plaguing her temperament.

Out of curiosity, Lady Valen raised herself from her current stature, snatching her case of cigarettes from the table and indulged in one final sip of tea. The woman progressed towards the coat stand beside the door, allowing the Porter to cloak her within her trench. With a sense of determination, the young woman exited the confinement of Roseden House, making her way towards the Seraph Headquarters. She was a coroner, after all.
What she lacks in poetry, she makes up for in venom.

Name: Jarvis (no last name on record)
Ethnicity: Human Krytan
Age: Mid 20s
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Violet

Injury Report: Victim is missing his index, middle, and ring fingers on his left hand up to the knuckles. Teeth marks that ride up further along the back hand indicating several attempts at removal. Clear enough to be drawn for identification. Right eye completely gone. Fluid retained in socket indicates that eye was smashed in before plucked out. Throat severed with a bite that tore the flesh away exposing trachea and esophagus. Trachea severed and completely exposed. Cause of death: Blood loss from severe trauma to the neck.

Name: Enziah Bashi [parents: enzi bashi & dahlia bashi]
Ethnicity: Human Elonian
Age: 13
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Amber

Injury Report: Necromantic intervention that constricted oxygen to blood flow and tainted the entire system with a virulent entity that reanimated the boy after death. Magic is unclear. Easily assumed to be of Zhiaten orgin. So perhaps Orrian influence? Whoever wove the curse has acute knowledge of death magic. Someone with ready access to a plethora of knowledge. Veins of victim constricted and darkened as though they were stained with ink. Perhaps a side effect of the affliction. Eyes took on a milky apperance akin to a corpse that has been decayed for days instead of mere hours. Cause of death: asphyxiation.

It was late night or early morning depending on who you asked. Wrasynth stalked his studies in such a manner that his staff refused to bother him. Occasionally grumbling and growling over how badly he felt he fowled this up under the nuances of behavior he new better. A card face he knew to hold but there was again, in his mind's eye; standing over a dead boy holding what felt and stunk of Orrian corruption. He should of knew better right then to shut up...

He didn't though. His mouth was running as his brain orrated the thoughts allowed to a crowd standing before him. He knew he was observed by more than three Asura (presumed two male on female?), two seraph (One male, one female, she was distraught.), and some curious lot at the peripheral. Still; there he was rattling away hypothesis making himself a target and people he cared about exposed. What bothered him more was the people he cared about. He wasn't the type of man to care for other's per'se. He cared how they affected him, never the other way around.

He growled and grouched again. He also hated working with amateurs. He preferred his own men. When someone messed up they were quick to receive a set of sudden and harsh lashes in front of the rest of the crew, only if the offence needed such a lesson though. When someone put everyone at risk a big show was made of it. The lashes vulgar wet spray and kisses made sure everyone knew they were a smaller part of a larger whole. He had to suffice with some poignant spanking of someone who wasn't prepared for such a life.

Still; he'd be damned if him and his krew would be jeopardized over such mistakes. He'd return to the newspaper scraps and notes taken to belabor over them once more. He didn't expect meaningful revelation yet, but maybe if he steamed over it enough his anger could conjure an answer before him.

The sun had died down and she was exhausted after the days events. She told herself she hadn't ever had such a busy day; and that was saying something seeing as she's doctor. Xiladriel never had any run-ins with the Seraph but today she managed to see them three times for what seemed like an extended moment in time. She recollected the day: the man that was tortured before he somehow managed to make his maimed body to The Sun, the little boy who was at the wrong place at the wrong time...both dead. She sips her tea alone in home in Garenhoff. Her new and second home was no longer safe after the days events: Two murders, dealing with the Seraph, a break-up, an assault, fighting, the memories of two boys dying, and new alliances from each direction. She contemplates how she made it through the day and remembers everything she had been through even prior to all of this. Today could be added to the bunch of dysfunctional memories and tragedies. It was a part of her now.

That afternoon she had been speaking to Vic and Jasku. One would think she had eyes for Jasku but no one could /truly/ tell. Vic was her new "colleague". She would shake her head at that mistake. In that way, she knew Wras was right, but that was it. Beyond that her mind goes back to talking to the two men before she spotted a Sylvari Seraph. From what she initially remembered his name was Falcon. She has his information somewhere but she didn't need it in this moment. She was unwinding; tea in hand. A long conversation with Falcon resulted in the permission of her, Wras, Effie...and in this moment she forgot Effie's husband's name (a male Asura to match her perfectly) to investigate the bodies. She accomplished what she set out to do and she'd continue doing so.

Whatever it took.

"The last thing I told our boy was he'd better make his bed or else..." Dahlia wept against the wall that was her husband's chest. The next morning, the boy's bed was still undone and so was everything else that held the quiet, kind family together. Dahlia and Enzi barely parted lips at one another. No comfort would be found in their time of grief. Though the Seraph were adamant about performing some ritual on their son Dahlia was a fierce mother bear who had been denied her slain cub for too long. She demanded her child's body and none would withstand her ferocity to that end.

The next morning they awoke to a bitter sunrise. Enzi would not go to tend the fields of Lord Batistum Merlo's estates. Dahlia would not ready breakfast and water the tulips that lined the windowsills to their simple home. They had a son to bury.

-The Nightmare-
She hadn't ever seen anything like it. The scene haunted her dreams from the night before as Xiladriel abruptly woke up in a pool of sweat. This was most unusual. She usually had pleasant sleeping conditions but not tonight. She gets up to make some tea. She wouldn't dare wake Jack (her assistant) at this hour for such things. She settles on her couch as she waits for the water to boil. Her mind running wild with memories of the day. It was supposed to work out, it was supposed to give answers, and it was supposed to be a step forward; though it didn't seem so in some ways. Jasku prepared the ritual. He wasn't arrogant at all but confident he could get the job done. Rakzas, Effie, Jasku, and herself had traveled to Queensdale. Godslost Swamp to be exact. The rancid stench permeated the entire area. they had trekked through the sludge, batted the bugs away, fought the skelks that lurked beyond their vision all to get to the shack. The shack in the middle was just as welcoming as the swamp. In fact, she had a bad feeling from the start but kept it to herself. No one needed that sort of negativity. She opened her medical bag, prepared her stuff, and prayed to Grenth nothing bad would happen. Jasku managed to bring the spirit to us. It's form still as grotesque as it was in the physical form. It couldn't speak because it's throat had been traumatized from the bites. Bites from who...rather /what? I encouraged the group to ask "yes or no" questions. It was pointless. It seemed the ritual was interrupted by what seemed like a necromantic puppet master. Black tendrils draped through the roof of the shack. Jasku's fighting came into play after that. He had plenty of experience but after his altercation and rough ride from the tendrils may have proven him wrong on what they were all up against. Jasku punched the wall behind him, breaking his arm...yet he still carried on. Effie's efforts with her hammer seemed to have helped a bit along with Jasku's efforts. She'd had her fair share of action later on.
-The Screams-
Xil had momentarily forgotten her tea was on to boil. The shrieking from the teapot mimicked the screams from the scholars nearby the swamp. She jumps up abruptly to finish her own nightmare ritual: a piping hot cup of tea and to process what happened until she dozed off. She brings her tea from the kitchen and resumes her spot on the couch. The Scholar's screams still resonating in her mind. After the encounter they followed the screams; her adrenaline was pumping. She was no fighter by any means but she knew what she was doing when it came to being a medical doctor. After all this was done, she has her work cut out for her. She'd be picking Sadi and Jasku's brains for sure. They went to the nearby scholar camp. Risen....great. She didn't want to think about the grotesque details...the brains...or the fact Effie was caught up in the fray to the point of injury. Was she bitten? She didn't ask. Xil was the first to ask if she was okay in which Effie stated she was fine. The monster that had her was stronger that the mere risen in conjured up. It had fled the scene after the brawl with Effie. Garrod...a nearby scholar that Xil had spoken to a few times prior to this day pointed them in the direction in fled. She found him irritating...even prior to this night.
-The Winged Beast-
Rakzas ((The Flash of Tyria)) sped off after it. She had given Effie and him a hard time previously one night at the tavern about his impressive speed. Even Xil had trouble keeping up with him. They caught up with the creature. It stood still. Black wings and some sort of body. Rakzas with his adrenaline rushing and thinking it was a trap, threw a fireball out of all things at the figure. It wasn't long before it burned to ash and hollow bones. Every single one of us devastated from the blow. She couldn't help it or hold it in any longer. He potentially ruined the moment to face it. "Why not a rock or a pebble to start with Rackzas?" Xil couldn't keep it in. She walked over to what seemed like the carcass; taking samples of the ash, bone, and feathers. Talk of getting a priest of Grenth involved was in motion now but to her in that moment...didn't matter. She had to leave to get her things. The longer Xil stuck around the more she would have said something she regretted and no one needed that.

She had dozed off to sleep after all. Curled up in her chair under the moonlight that infiltrated her living room. Her tea was forsaken, and so were the nightmares. Little did she know...the next day would be productive and most of all imperative.

It slithers like a snake. It swoops like a winged beast. It feasts like a lion.

They can try to shield the children's eyes from the great horrors of this world but their mind is far too open to be boarded. The tale of the ghoul has become too widespread after the events that transpired in the southern swamps. It is a story that children trade like marbles. Embellishments were added of course. Its eyes glowed red. No, orange. No, green! Its claws were those of a fleshreavers. Its bite stuns like a basilisk. It webs its victims before draining them dry. It dives from above to capture the grounded prey and flies it off to its nest.

All the children kept one eye on the sky.
