Name: Tristam Lightwick | Race: Human | Age: Late teens/early twenties
Eyes: Brown | Hair: Dyed purple and kept in a mohawk
Occupation: Candlemaker, thief, scam artist, and disciple of Lyssa | Devotion: Lyssa
Nicknames: Tris, Trissy, Lavender, Sweetface 2.0

Appearance: With his hair brightly dyed and his clothes showing flair, though worn and faded by sun, this young man stands out in a crowd to say the least. He seems to favour the flamboyant and youthful, often wearing sleeveless tight shirts with baggier trousers. The only piece that might seem misplaced is a thick scarf around his shoulders and neck.

He’s of average height, but considering his young age it is fully possible that he’s still growing. He’s slender, but not scrawny, like a young man just growing into his body, with his shoulders widening and his arms and chest slowly bulking up. His chin is soft, and probably never seen a razor yet, and overall he looks soft and unblemished.

Personality: A verbal man for sure, Tristam can easily be perceived as somewhat shallow and flighty, having a knack for theatrics and talking pretty. He has an ability to fit in when he needs to, he’s social and friendly, open to new experiences and often without judgement. His happy-go-lucky attitude, though, might elude to something deeper beneath, veiled up in denial.

Easily overwhelmed, this young man is prone to bouts of brooding, of silence and depression, as if his two default dispositions stand at complete odds with each other. Two sides of the same coin. He’s an affectionate man, though, a lover rather than a fighter, who likes to see the good in people and turns fiercely loyal to friends.

Background: Born and raised in the Arch, he never had a life of means. He lived with his mother, who scraped by by making and selling candles, until at the age of six she succumbed to a pox and passed away. For a few years he made his way in the streets with the other gutter children, until a man claiming to be his uncle picked him up, cleaned him off, and gave him a job. Together they stole, cheated and scammed their way through the streets of Lion’s Arch, and life became a strangely appealing charade of performance and hiding from the Lionguard. Though often suspected, Tris himself was never arrested even if his uncle often spent a night or two in lock up. The boy developed a knack for the theatrical, of spinning lies and playing parts, as well as slipping away and hiding.

Then the Aetherblades hit. At the time, Tristam was in his mid teens, and only just starting to grow into himself. He and a group of the children his uncle often employed somehow made their way out of the city even as it burned around them. His uncle lost along the way, Tris himself was hit badly by the miasma. So badly that he needed to spend months in sickbed, cared for by the scholars of the Durmand Priory.

Returning to the Arch, he quickly returned to his old ways, mixing the skills of candle making that his mother had passed on to him, and the sleight of hand taught to him by his uncle. He mainly worked alone, all until a few months ago, when he for various reasons left the Arch behind and made his way to Divinity’s Reach. He surrounded himself with friends again, making his way through life as best as he could, finding comfort and family in his new surroundings. But somethings still nagged at him, meeting a priest awoke questions, and the answers made him only want to know more.

After a hard pressed decision, the colourful youth relocated to the Temple of Divinity's Reach, and vowed himself in the service of Lyssa.

Relations:
Alexis Willows - His former roommate and best friend. They were often mistaken for a couple because of their intimate ways with each other, something they both tended to laugh off.
Dyani - One of the few friends from his childhood that survived the fall of LA. Tris has only recently met her again after years apart. Back then they were allies, confidants, even working together now and then and he might claim that he owes her his life, now, only time will tell if they reconnect.
The Ghost - A woman who placed her trust in him, a trust he returned with loyalty.
Sorrow-whiskers - A charr he considers himself beholden to for saving his life.
Gregory Carver - A surgeon at the Vanguard Hospital, these two met while out for a drink and hit it off with a surprising speed. For a while, Gregory became his landlord as well as occasional date.
Gale Radner - The aging priest of Lyssa is a recent acquaintance, but one that is proving integral for his peace of mind. Seeking his guidance in times of trouble, Tris seems to trust him, and their conversations are often as amusing as they are enlightening. He is also the reason for Tris' new life choice in the clergy.
Edwin Bellamy - Meeting under surprising circumstances, this mild mannered noble has become one of Tristam’s investors of sort. Together they are working on developing medicinal and holistic candles, soon to be found in a market near you.

Bump and a small update on this young man's new path in life, as a sworn disciple of Lyssa herself!

Finally succumbing to the Rattle infesting his lungs, young Tristam Lightwick passed in the early morning of 69th Zephyr, 1331.

He burnt bright, but far too fast. The near and dear of the departed neophyte of Lyssa can find his final resting place at Grenth's Cemetary, Salma District, Divinity's Reach.

Tristam might also have gone under the names of Jack Pinkerton, Ephram Coleston, or Novice Ives.

He left no living family behind, any donations for funeral arrangements can be sent to the Temple of the Six.

A few weeks earlier...

At first it came only in the late hours of evening, the hollow breaths and wheezing coughs. He couldn't say why he hid it, more than that he panicked. For so long, this burden had weighed him down, eating him from inside and out. From his lungs, to his heart, and his mind. And he knew there was just so much the medicine could do for him. Sooner or later, it would stop working at all.

Of course, he was only able to hide it for so long. The rooms he shared with other acolytes didn't allow for much privacy, and his issues were well known at the temple. Regular health checks had been part of his schedule from the very first day, and the next was surely creeping closer. They were always the same, brave smiles not quite hiding the gut wrenching sadness and sympathy of his nurse's eyes as she held his hands in hers, as her probing claws of magic trickled into his life force. She knew it, and he knew it, his days had always been numbered.

By now, he could almost feel the numbers ticking down.

In the end it was the dizziness that betrayed him, the lack of air suddenly making his head spin and his feet stumble in the middle of mass, in the hall of the Six. It had only lasted a minute or two, before strong hands had pried in under his arms and hauled him away to the innards of the Temple, ignoring his feeble protests, that didn't even reach over his lips.

After that the wheels were set in motion faster than he could handle. Missives went out. Doctors and healers summoned from the hospital came to poke and prod at him. Medicine and further medical research were requested from the Priory. And before he had a chance to stop them, letters went out to his loved ones. As few as they were.

Around him, the faces of mockingly reassuring optimism dwindled, giving way to the even more unbearable pity. If ever he had felt like a dying man. And he, only a few months away from his twentieth birthday.
